Hey Guys I need some info for a thursday fishing trip. I want to float either the upper Skagit or the Sky on thursday. I am wondering if the upper skagit is beeing watched to cloase by fish and game for the kings or if its safe to go for summer steelies. Other wise I will have to make a 1:30min drive to the Sky which I here has been good lately.
I would also appreciate some info on where the next take out that is abbove baker river?? I would be putting in above Rockport and tryiung to float 6hours. Please help

Catcher1,
I'm certainly no authority on the Skagit but have made numerous drifts from Marblemount to Rockport. I have yet to ever see any enforcement on the Skagit, period. I have heard that there isn't much of a summer steelhead run on the Skagit but that wouldn't stop me from trying. I would be hard pressed to think of a nicer place to fish. As for the float, I think you could turn the Marblemount to Rockport drift into an enjoyable 6 hours depending on how fast you want to go. The other option is from Rockport to Faber's which I only have limited experience with. Maybe someone else on this board can clue you as to which might be a more productive drift for steelies. Probably the Sky is a better option if you're more intent on intercepting a fish rather than just drifting? -Old Chum

i live up in rockport and i have been dooing pretty decent for summer runs up here mixed in with a bunch of kings i think you should launch in marblemount and take out at the other side of steelhead park.. if you need an extra person for this thurs i know the river really well and i can do a drift boat turn around.. let me know.. smile

How long would that drift take Skagiteer?
I am looking for a 5-6 hour drift. And I think that we will pull plugs and drift bait so. Thanks for all the info

it would take about that because there are so many holes and you wanna cover them pretty good cause the summer runs are far and inbetween although i did get a native summer run that was about 12 pounds today. but there are plenty of kings. i have been doing good on eggs.. cool
